Dear Editor – I am writing to raise my concern about worsening conditions of roads from Lengakiki to Mbokona in Honiara.
The roads, especially from Lengakiki to Mbokona, have become a disaster. There are large potholes, uneven surfaces and constant flooding as well as drainage outlets during heavy rains make driving unsafe and frustrating.
These, poor road condition have cause traffic delays, accident as well as damage of vehicles. Pedestrians, including school children’s and the elderly people in Honiara town are at serious risk.
During heavy rain, roads become almost impossible affecting emergency services and business operations.
I am strongly edge our Government and the ministry of infrastructure to take a quick repair and maintains or upgrade on this roads because it is the main pathway for the transportation to the main town.
Regular maintenance and better drainage systems should be a top priority to make a better pathway for transportation of our people.
Thus, because Honiara is the capital of the Solomon Island. It should reflect the development, not to be neglected.
Our people deserve safe, and reliable infrastructure .Lets not wait until more lives are affected before action is taken.
Thank You
Sincerely
Crimah Mumae Tatai
