Central Kwara’ae constituents in Malaita have welcomed the arrival of million-dollar road construction machines to the constituency in Auki on Tuesday.
The equipment made possible through tax payers money were shipped to Malaita and unloaded in Auki.
It was facilitated under the leadership of the Member of Parliament (MP) for Central Kwara’ae, Hon. Ricky Fuo’o.
Hon. Fuo’o, who also serves as Minister responsible for the Ministry of Infrastructure Development (MID), has made it a top priority to improve infrastructure since his election.

Constituent Alfred Liu praised the Central Kwara’ae Constituency Office for its dedication and coordination in ensuring the successful procurement and delivery of the machines.
Community leaders also commended the office for its transparency, regular communication with stakeholders, and commitment to bringing tangible development projects to the people.
“This is a clear sign that our Constituency Office is working hard to deliver real services to our communities,” Mr. Liu said.
The new road construction and maintenance equipment is expected to upgrade existing roads and support the opening of new ones across the constituency.
The machines are anticipated to:
– Improve rural road conditions in Central Kwara’ae , making them safer and accessible year-round;
– Reduce travel time and transport costs for farmers, students, and local businesses;
– Enhance access to markets, allowing farmers to transport cocoa, copra, root crops, and other produce efficiently;
– Support access to health clinics and schools, particularly during heavy rains when roads often become impassable; and
– Create employment opportunities for locals during road construction and maintenance projects.
Community members have described the arrival of the machines as a major milestone for development and applauded both Hon. Fuo’o and the Central Kwara’ae Constituency Office for delivering on their promises.
