Specific maintenance work on the sealed roads in West Honiara, Lot 2, is underway.
This project covers routes: Mud Alley, Tsilm Street, Matavale Crescent, Tavio Ridge, Rifle Range, and the White River road network.
The local contractor first focused on Tavio Ridge Road since December last year by preparing key sections and sealing in accordance with the quantities specified in their contract.
Now that they resume after few days break for the festive season, their crew mobilized this week carrying out initial works on the Rifle Range road by drainage, overgrown vegetation clearance, and next will be sealing specific sections.
The contract for this lot experienced delays due to a revised scope of priorities over the past two years.
However, it has recently received approval from the Central Tender Board in the last quarter of 2025.
Funding for this maintenance is provided through the National Transport Fund, contributed by the Solomon Islands Government.
The Transport Infrastructure Management Services Division of the Ministry of Infrastructure Development (MID) continues to provide overall supervision and quality control and assurance for these local contracts.
“We sincerely appreciate road users for adhering to traffic controllers on-site, who assist in ensuring smooth traffic flow and safety.”
