DRIVERS and pedestrians have once again been called upon to take precautionary measures and abide by all traffic rules whenever using the roads.
Police Commissioner Frank Prendergast made these remarks in light of the increasing number of traffic related road accidents that has already occurred the past couple of weeks.
“All road users (both drivers and pedestrians) must be careful whilst on the roads.
“They must learn to appreciate and abide by all necessary traffic rules and regulations for the benefit of preventing unwanted road accidents from occurring,” Mr Prendergast said.
He conceded that the increasing number of traffic related accidents recorded nowadays has been a concern, however adding that if drivers and pedestrians all abide by traffic rules, such would be prevented.
“Solomon Islands now have a lot more vehicles than it use to some years back.
“Having vehicles also comes with responsibilities in abiding by traffic rules, not only drivers but pedestrians also,” he said.
Mr Prendergast also called on drivers to drive carefully during such wet rainy weather conditions as traffic accidents may occur at any moment.
