The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) has formally announced the appointment of three newly promoted officers into the RSIPF’s Executive during the Commissioner’s weekly parade at the Rove Police Headquarters in Honiara today (24 October 2019).
The officers are Mr Mostyn Mangau who is promoted to the rank of Deputy Commissioner, and Mr Ian Bara and Ms Evelyn Thugea who are promoted to the rank of Assistant Commissioner.
The promotions were recently approved by the Police & Prison Services Commission (PPSC).
When presenting their promotions, RSIPF Commissioner Matthew Varley congratulated the officers saying: “Leadership is not about rank or position, but is about responsibility and being a servant.”
“Your coat of arms reminds you that being a leader is to serve your officers under your command with respect and diligence and serving your country with dignity and honour. I look forward to your leadership contributions for the organisation’s future.”
“Welcome to the RSIPF senior executive team. Your promotions are well-deserved. I also wish to thank all the other candidates who applied for the positions in what was a very strong and competitive field,” says Commissioner Varley.
The announcement of the promotions of the new members of the RSIPF executive team is the first in a series of promotions that will be made in the coming weeks including to the ranks of Chief Superintendent, Superintendent, Inspector, Senior Sergeant and Sergeant.
