The Royal Solomon Island Police Force (RSIPF) in collaboration with AFP Policing Partnership Program (RAPPP), visited Christian Care Centre (CCC) at Tenaru recently.
The visit brought moments of joy and encouragement to mothers and children living at the center.
During the visit, the RSIPF officers spent the day presenting gifts, engaging with families, and providing emotional support to those who have experienced difficult circumstances.
The aim of the visit was to show care and solidarity, offering small comforts that can make a meaningful difference in the lives of those at the center.
Speaking on behalf of RSIPF, Officer Minah Maitaki said, “On behalf of the RSIPF, we are honored to spend time with the families at Tenaru Christian Care Center.”
“It’s important for us to show our support and care and to remind these children and mothers that they are not alone.
“Seeing their smiles today reminds us why community engagement is at the heart of our work,” Officer Maitaki said.
A mother who has been at the center for a week said, “I am so happy you visited us. After everything my children have been through, seeing their faces light up from the gifts you brought is a small comfort that I’m truly grateful for.
“Thank you, RSIPF and RAPPP, for visiting us; your visit really encouraged us.”

Sister Rhoda Alama from the CCC said, the visit has brightened these children’s day.
“Seeing them smile and laugh brings me so much joy. We provide shelter and basic necessities for the mothers and children here, but we don’t always have things like toys to keep them busy. So, thank you very much; your visit has truly been a blessing to us.”
Another mother shared how the visit helped her family cope with difficult emotions: “I’m happy to see my children smiling. We are safe here, but we’ve been living in sorrow. This program helped us forget our sorrow, even just for a while.”
The RSIPF’s visit, supported by the RSIPF and AFP Policing Partnership Program (RAPPP), reflected the power of small gestures in fostering hope and building community connections.
Through simple acts of kindness, encouragement, and care, the officers reminded the families at CCC that they are supported and not alone.
The RSIPF, in partnership with RAPPP, regularly conducts community visits across the Solomon Islands to support vulnerable families, children, and communities. These visits provide emotional support, basic necessities, and small comforts such as toys or care packages.
Beyond material assistance, the program focuses on fostering trust, encouraging resilience, and strengthening the connection between the police and the community. Over the years, these visits have reached numerous centres and communities, ensuring that families feel supported, safe, and recognized.
