RUBBISH collection in some suburbs in Honiara resumed on Thursday.
This came after contractors hired by Honiara City Council had halted operation for more than three months following non-payment of their contracts.
One of the contractors said the Council had paid up a monthly due last October which enabled them to resume operation.
However, the contractor said there are still two months outstanding payments yet to be settled.
The delay of payment had resulted in piles of rubbishes outside residential homes and overflows are being seen around the big garbage yellow bins around Honiara suburbs.
However, residents are now happy to see the contractors back on their job collecting rubbishes.
