The Solomon Islands Secondary School Games (SISSG25) enters its final day of rugby competition today, Thursday July 3, at the King George VI East End Park.
A major upset in the group stages has seen defending champions Koloale CHS crashed out early, finishing behind Honiara Senior High School and Su’u NSS.
Their absence makes way for a new boys rugby champion to emerge this year.
Eight schools remain in the boys category, with four high-stakes quarterfinals scheduled to kick off from 10am.
The day’s action will begin with Aligegeo facing St John at 10:00am, followed by surprise contenders Norman Palmer taking on Su’u NSS at 10:25am.
A third quarterfinal will see White River CHS lock horns with Waimapuru at 10:50am, while an all-Honiara clash between Honiara Senior High School and King George VI wraps up the boys quarterfinals at 11:15am.
In the girls rugby division, only four teams remain with the semi-finals also taking place this morning.
The opening semi-final will see 2021 silver medalists and tournament favorites Koloale CHS face White River at 11:45am, before Auki meets St John CHS at 12:15pm in the second semi.
