A MAN from Lau/Mbaelelea constituency in North Malaita says his people strongly supports the Democratic Coalition for Change (DCC) government, despite the online voting survey being done by the Forum International (FSII) on their face book page.
Speaking to the Solomon Star, the secondary school teacher who wants his name withheld told the paper that this popular online poll carried out by FSII does not reflect the views of the rural people that accounts for more than 80% of the country’s population.
He said, that the rural people are the ones that feel the positive impact of the DCC policy, since development goals of the government is targeting the rural areas.
“Comparing to the past government DCC is doing better,” he said. “A good example of that is our MP just opens the constituency office at Takwa, with huge distribution of project forms, something that the previous governments hardly achieved,” he added.
He added, those who participates on this FSII online voting are urban dwellers, relaxing in their luxurious positions with keyboard and mouse, while poverty stricken rural people are feeling the true impact of the DCC policy, intended for improving lives in the constituencies.
“Such figures of portraying support towards the government is unfair, it must include voice of rural dwellers who holds the majority population and are computer illiterate to join such an online group,” he said.
Moreover, he said that rural people just felt what the true meaning of bottom up approach is all about, as they see the exact definition of “government of the people, by the people and for the people” unveils itself here by this DCC administration.
