MINISTER for the Ministry of Education and Human Resource Development (EHRD) John Deane Kuku is calling on the 16 students who were awarded with scholarships to study in Taiwan to respect the law and customs of their host country.
He was speaking during a short ceremony to officially hand over the scholarships to the recipients on Tuesday in Honiara.
“As visitors and students, you must uphold their laws and culture and respect their people and country,” Mr Kuku said.
He added that to study in countries abroad (Taiwan is no exceptions) creates other opportunities.
“You become citizens of nation and servants of great ideas.”
He said that Solomon Islanders who have gone before you have shown that they can be successful in their studies in there.
“They have developed friendship with other people of Taiwan.
“They had proven to be good ambassadors of the country..
“I call upon you all to be good friends of Taiwan and ambassadors of Solomon Islands,” Mr Kuku said.
