The Ministry of Education is currently reviewing itsSolomon Islands Government scholarship program (SIG).
The review is expected to come in effect as of next year, 2017.
Ministry of Education Communication officer, Selu Maezama revealed this yesterday.
He said that the review is to improve the scholarship program.
“We are working towards the 2017 budget.The outcome of the review depend very much on the cabinet decision, also changes on the program depends on the review itself.”
He added that there are four main areas that were currently under review.
These include:
1. Field of training and areas that will be receiving full funding support.
2. Criteria for awarding scholarships and the number of awards for studies (Certificate, pre-degrees, degrees, and post graduate levels.)
3. Funding arrangements for in-country, regional, and international scholarship,
4. And over all is the government budget.
He said that this review covers old awards and upcoming ones where changes depend on the outcome of the review.
