Seven former Prime Ministers will contest the 2014 National Parliamentary Elections on November 19.
They are the current Caretaker Prime Minister, Gordon Darcy Lilo, Danny Philip, Dr Derek Sikua, Sir Allan Kemakeza, Manasseh Sogavare, Snyder Rini and Francis Billy Hilly.
Mr Lilo will defend his Gizo-Kolombangara seat under the Solomon Islands Party for Rural Advancement Party, Mr Philip will defend his seat of South New Georgia under the United Democratic Party, while Dr Derek Sikua will try to retain the North-East Guadalcanal Constituency as an Independent candidate.
Sir Allan will attempt to retake the Savo-Russell seat under the United Democratic Party, Mr Sogavare will defend the East Choiseul seat as an Independent, Mr Rini will defend his Marovo seat as an Independent, and Mr Hilly will attempt to retake the Ranonga-Simbo seat as an Independent.
In the Ninth Parliament, Dr Sikua was Leader of the Liberal Party, Mr Sogavare was Leader of Our Party, Mr Rini was Leader of Independent Party, now the United Democratic Party, and Mr Hilly was Leader of National Party.
