SOLOMON Islands Foreign Minister Peter Shanel Agovaka has assured the Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi that Solomon Islands stands in solidarity with China in combating unilateralism.
In the bilateral meeting between the two leaders, Foreign Minister Wang highlighted that China is willing to work with Solomon Islands to uphold multilateralism, basic norms governing international relations, and international fairness and justice.
Minister Agovaka, in response, assured Minister Wang that Solomon Islands stands in solidarity with China against unilateralism and in upholding of basic norms governing international relations, and international fairness and justice.
Minister Agovaka also assured his Chinese counterpart of his willingness to work with him (Minister Wang) in addressing issues of importance to both Solomon Islands and China.
He also took the opportunity to highlight that the Solomon Islands-China bilateral relationship has bloomed since its establishment in 2019 and fast-growing, referencing the robustness of this partnership to the various agreements reached and implemented.
Minister Agovaka thanked China for the support it rendered to Solomon Islands through the cooperation mechanisms covering various sectors, and also for supporting the Solomon Islands Embassy in Beijing.
He expressed appreciation for the warm hospitality accorded to him and his delegation since their arrival in Xiamen, and also for China’s hosting of the third China-PICs Foreign Ministers’ Meeting.
