Prime Minister Hon. Jeremiah Manele has been congratulated on assuming the role of Chair of the Pacific Islands Forum Leaders Meeting (PIFLM).
The Solomon Islands Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SICCI), as the peak body representing the private sector in a statement joins the nation and the wider Pacific community in congratulating PM Manele.
SICCI acknowledges this as a historic and strategic moment for Solomon Islands, positioning the country at the forefront of regional leadership.
“On behalf of our members and the broader Solomon Islands business community, we congratulate our Prime Minister Hon. Jeremiah Manele on his appointment as Chair of the Pacific Islands Forum Leaders Meeting.
“As the national private sector body, and as a member of the Pacific Islands Private Sector Organization (PIPSO), SICCI assures the Prime Minister of our full support in advancing the shared priorities of the Solomon Islands and the Pacific region,” SICCI said in a statement.
The successful delivery of the Forum and associated events in Honiara has demonstrated the critical role of partnership between Government and the private sector.
From logistics, catering, accommodation, and transport to showcasing the best of Solomon Islands’ “Hapi Isles” hospitality, the private sector has been a vital enabler of the Forum’s success.
SICCI also acknowledges the opportunity to contribute through the PIFLM side exhibition, which brought together businesses, civil society organizations, and regional bodies.
This platform allowed Solomon Islands enterprises to showcase their capacity in trade, regulatory compliance, and tourism — all of which remain key drivers of economic growth.
In addition, SICCI joined the Pacific Islands Private Sector Organization (PIPSO) delegation, actively supporting private sector dialogue with Forum Leaders.
On Tuesday 9 September, SICCI contributed to regional discussions that highlighted the challenges and opportunities faced by private sector operators across the Pacific.
SICCI further participated in the Pacific Resilience Facility (PRF) Talanoa Session, alongside Our Telekom and HKKH Shipping, sharing insights on resilience, business continuity, and the enabling environment required to strengthen Solomon Islands’ economy in the face of climate and disaster risks.
At the domestic level, SICCI continues to be the principal dialogue partner to the Solomon Islands Government, advocating for policies and reforms that create a stronger and more inclusive business environment.
At the regional level, SICCI remains an active voice through PIPSO, ensuring the perspectives of Solomon Islands businesses are heard in shaping regional development agendas.
At the international level, SICCI engages with partners and institutions to build trade opportunities, improve market access, and foster investment that benefits Solomon Islanders.
As Solomon Islands assumes a leadership role in the Pacific, SICCI reaffirms its commitment to advancing the private sector as the engine of growth for both the national and regional economy.
