The Solomon Islands Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SICCI) has officially launched its five-year strategic plan.
The plan aims to strengthen the private sector and foster economic development in the country.
Speaking at the launch event, SICCI Chairlady Ms. Namoi Kaluae outlined the four key components of the strategy:
Creating a more enabling policy environment for the private sector to drive growth.
Facilitating, supporting, and promoting business competitiveness and trade.
Fostering public-private partnerships to enhance economic development.
Strengthening SICCI’s capacity to provide independent, effective, and sustainable representation of the private sector.
“These objectives will not only empower our initiatives but will also deliver concrete results that will benefit all stakeholders,” Ms. Kaluae stated.
She emphasised that the strategy will support business operators of all sizes, from large enterprises to small and medium-sized businesses, across Honiara and the provinces.
Ms. Kaluae took the opportunity to acknowledge the dedication of the 2024/2025 SICCI Board and secretariat, recognising their commitment to private sector growth in the Solomon Islands.
Additionally, she expressed gratitude to SICCI’s sponsors, members, the Solomon Islands Government (SIG), and development partners for their continuous support.
“Your unwavering support and commitment keep SICCI vibrant and effective in its mission to advocate for our interests,” she said.
A key highlight at the event was the announcement of a new partnership with Internews Europe, which will fund the ‘Building Voices for Accountability’ project.
This initiative includes the establishment of an additional advocacy officer to enhance SICCI’s efforts in representing the private sector.
Furthermore, Ms. Kaluae extended special appreciation to the Australian Government through the Australian High Commission for its funding support.
She described this assistance as instrumental in strengthening SICCI’s advocacy efforts moving forward.
“As we embark on this new chapter, I encourage you all to actively participate in this process.
“Your insights and feedback are invaluable as we strive to make this an impactful year filled with growth, engagement, and opportunity,” Ms. Kaluae said.
With this strategic plan in place, SICCI is poised to play a crucial role in driving sustainable economic development and fostering a more competitive business.
