AUSTRALIA-based Solomon Islands Professional boxer Lemuel Silisia has won his bout against Indonesia’s Bima Prakosa last Saturday night at Bad Intentions 9 in Gunnedah Town Hall New South Wales (NSW) in Australia.
His victory booked him for an Australasian professional title in July.
This Australasian professional title bout will be his first shot as a professional fighter in much higher rank according to his boxing club One2boxing (O2B) when interviewed by Star Sports yesterday.
Silisia, who hails from Malaita Province, beat Indonesian fighter Bima Prakosa in 2nd round Knock Out (KO) of six rounds and booked his ticket for the professional level of Australian boxing.
“If this fight goes well and Lemuel performs well, it will give him a shot at an Australasian title in July.
“That will be his first title shot as a professional.
“If he is able to secure the title, he would love to have a fight in Solomon Islands to defend it later in the year,” an initial statement from his club 02B said.
Explaining the Australasian boxing title, 02B said the importance of the title is to move up rankings to secure more titles and eventually a world title.
“The Australasian title is fought over 8 rounds and would put him in rankings for an Asia Pacific title over 10 rounds and then place him in the position for world title in a few years.
“It’s a gradual process in stepping through the rankings and hopefully fulfilling his goal of a world title.
“His victory was a second round KO for this fight,” O2B said.
His victory has been appraised by people in Solomon Islands as the best shot of his boxing career.
One of Australia’s news organizations stated this was the scariest KO Lems, as he is known on the boxing scene, ever execute in his boxing career.
