The Solomon Islands National Provident Fund (SINPF), through its youSave initiative and in partnership with Appello Services and the Labour Mobility Unit of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and External Trade, has successfully completed a nationwide outreach tour to New Zealand, registering 333 Solomon Islands Recognised Seasonal Employer (RSE) workers into the Seasonal Workers Superannuation Scheme (SWSAS).
The outreach tour was conducted from 26 November to 10 December 2025, covering major locations from Wellington to Auckland, and engaging workers across 12 RSE employers operating in the horticulture, agriculture, and seafood processing sectors.
The employers covered during the tour were Craggy Range, Lewis Farms, Bayley Produce, Douglas Fruit, Bostock, RJ Flowers, JCR, Focus Teamwork, Pick Hawkes Bay, Hortus, Seeka, and Open Ocean Whakatohea Mussels.
As a direct outcome of the tour, all 333 workers were successfully registered for SWSAS payroll deductions, marking a significant milestone for SINPF’s overseas financial inclusion efforts.
The outreach sessions focused on practical financial education, including budgeting, saving, and future planning, while also strengthening relationships with RSE employers, coordinators, and the Labour Mobility Unit, which provided vital support in facilitating worker engagement and compliance.
Since the completion of the New Zealand RSE tour in November–December 2025, total contributions received under SWSAS now stand at SBD 355,627.58, clearly demonstrating the immediate financial impact of the outreach on worker participation and savings behaviour.
Overall, total incoming contributions to SWSAS to date now stand at SBD 558,409.12, supported by Appello Services, which is facilitating weekly SWSAS remittances to SINPF youSave on behalf of participating RSE employers, ensuring consistent and timely contributions from seasonal workers.
The scheme has continued to show strong momentum, with the highest single contribution recorded to date being SBD 78,832.31, received on 11 February 2026, further highlighting the growing confidence and commitment of seasonal workers to the scheme.
Projections continue to indicate strong long-term growth potential, with estimated contributions of over SBD 5.5 million annually, positioning SWSAS as a key financial mechanism for retirement security, financial inclusion, and economic resilience for Solomon Islands seasonal workers.
Building on the success of the New Zealand outreach, SINPF youSave is also planning a similar outreach tour for Solomon Islands PALM workers in Australia, where the majority of Solomon Islands seasonal workers are currently employed.
The upcoming Australia tour will focus on expanding SWSAS coverage, strengthening financial literacy, and increasing voluntary savings participation among PALM workers.
SINPF Management acknowledged the vital role of RSE employers, Appello Services, the Labour Mobility Unit of Ministry of Foreign Affairs and External Trade, and seasonal workers in the success of the tour and reaffirmed its commitment to expanding financial inclusion for Solomon Islanders in overseas and informal employment arrangements.
“This outreach confirms that direct engagement and on-site financial education are critical in building a sustainable savings culture among our overseas workers,” SINPF stated.
“With weekly remittances now in place, SWSAS is transitioning into a scalable and reliable national scheme that will play a cornerstone role in social protection for seasonal workers.”
