Australia Awards Alumnus, Emma Clera Sipele, is bringing home world-class human resource strategies after attending the Australian Human Resources Institute (AHRI) QLD State Conference in Gold Coast, Australia.
Ms. Sipele has adopted her learnings from the conference to introduce AI-powered recruitment, boost employee wellbeing, and adapt global best practices to build ethical, innovative, and people‑centred workplaces in the Solomon Islands.
During the two-day event, Ms. Sipele explored strategies that improve hiring transparency, reduce bias, and increase efficiency through AI-powered recruitment tools, while ensuring human judgment and ethical principles remain central.
She also gained innovative approaches to strengthening workplace wellbeing, including offering healthy meal options, promoting work-life balance, and providing mental health support to raise morale and productivity.
“With the right tools and mindset, we can build workplaces that are ethical, innovative, and people‑centred. This is the future we should be working towards,” Ms. Sipele said.
The Government of Australia, through Australia Awards Solomon Islands (AASI), supported her participation as part of its commitment to equip leaders who create lasting change in their communities.
Australian High Commissioner to Solomon Islands, His Excellency Rod Hilton, congratulated Ms. Sipele on her achievements.
“Emma’s participation in this conference shows how international learning can be adapted to local realities to create fairer, healthier, and more productive workplaces. Australia is committed to continue supporting leaders like her who are making a real difference,” Mr Hilton said.
Ms. Sipele holds a Master of Business Administration in Human Resource Management from the Australian Catholic University in North Sydney.
Currently, she works as Deputy Team Leader for the Senior Secondary Education Improvement Project under the Ministry of Education and Human Resources Development, with AARC Ltd, an international consulting firm based in Dublin, Ireland.
