GOVERNOR General Rt Reverend David Vunagi and Lady Mary Vunagi arrived in London early on Sunday morning after a 13-hour flight from Singapore.
A Government statement said the couple and five accompanying officials are settling in well in London ahead of a number of engagements during the week.
On Monday 14th October (Tuesday Honiara time), the Governor General will visit the Solomon Islands High Commission in London before he will administer a Private Investiture ceremony for Major David Rankin-Hunt at the Rebens at the Palace Hotel.
Major David Rankin-Hunt was awarded a medal from the Solomon Islands Government, which will be handed over by the Governor General.
On Wednesday October 16th, the Governor General will have an audience with Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II at Buckingham Palace where he will formally receive his Knighthood from the Queen.
The Knighthood was conferred upon Sir David on August 9th this year following a recommendation by Prime Minister Manasseh Sogavare on July 15th.
The knighthood ceremony will be followed by other engagements during the week before the Governor General and his delegation leave London to Tokyo to represent Solomon Islands at the enthronement of Japan’s Emperor Naruhito on October 22.
Their Excellencies’ are accompanied by 3 officials from the Government House and two others from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs External Trade and the Office of the Prime Minister and Cabinet.
