SOLOMON Island Visitors Bureau (SIVB) has organised a one day Service Tourism Awareness Workshop (STAW) for the entire Ministry of Culture and Tourism (MCT) departments on Friday.
The training was organised at the King Solomon Hotel Bamboo Bar.
The aim of the workshop was to stimulate an excitement and interest about the tourism industry with the Ministry and Solomon Islands Visitors Bureau (SIVB).
Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism (MCT) John Wasi officially opened the workshop.
During the workshop each director and heads within the Ministry’s departments presented their roles and future plans that would be taken forward.
SIVB senior marketing officer Nelson Manepura said, the workshop was an initiative of SIVB undertaken for selected frontline people in the tourism industry.
“We have organised the first workshop with the officers from the immigration and police early this year.
“And this is the second workshop we have organised, this time for the Ministry basically for each of the departmental heads to share their roles/responsibilities and future plans so that SIVB could align with their work plans in the tourism marketing strategy plan,” Mr Manepura said.
Attending the workshop were staff from the tourism division, national archives division, national art gallery, national culture division and co-host SIVB.
The next similar workshop for other Ministries will be announced soon.
