Six provinces had pledged their alliance with the United Democratic Party (UDP) yesterday before the president of UDP Tommy Chan at the Honiara Hotel.
This was revealed to the Solomon Star by the Premier of Malaita Province Peter Ramohia.
Mr Ramohia said that incorporating provincial governments to any political party helps the province to address development in areas such as health, education Agriculture, Fisheries and so forth.
He confirmed that six provinces namely Malaita, Renbell, Western, Choiseul, Central and Guadalcanal turned up yesterday to meet the UDP president.
He reiterated that joining UDP is very important as it enable the provincial government to work together with the national government through the political party to boost development in the rural areas.
He stressed that through this affiliation with UDP, the development priorities of provinces would be better addressed by the national government.
He confirmed that Malaita provincial executive is pursuing formality of their alliance with UDP.
He added this is a major step undertaken by the provincial government; as they continue strive to strengthen ties with development partners and politicians to address development issues in our nine provinces.
