The Small Malaita Mini Game Council (SMMGC) convened its meeting on Saturday 31st January 2026 to appoint members of the Games Organising Committee (GOC) to plan and host the Small Malaita Mini Games this year 2026.
The meeting was held at the Multi-Purpose Hall Conference Room
The Small Malaita Mini Games (SMMG) is a registered entity under the Charitable Act of Solomon Islands.
The objectives of the SMMG are to:
- Promote all sporting activities within the Small Malaita Constituency;
- Promote, develop, and enhance good sportsmanship and friendship among young people in the constituency;
- Promote unity, peace, and harmony among communities and people of the constituency;
- Enhance understanding, recognition, appreciation, and adherence to the cultural values and norms of the Solomon Islands;

The Small Malaita Mini Games (SMMG) Charter, Preamble Sub-section (3), “the SMMG is recognised as a sporting tournament for the Small Malaita Constituency and shall be held every two (2) years, or as otherwise determined by the Council”.
The Small Malaita Mini Games were last hosted in Roapu in 2018. The Games were not held in 2020, 2022, and 2024, resulting in a lapse of three consecutive scheduled cycles.
Due to strong concerns and pressure from citizens of the Small Malaita Constituency, the SMMGC convened this meeting to explore ways to revive and restore this prestigious sporting event for the youth of Small Malaita.
Following deliberations, the Council resolved to appoint a Games Organising Committee (GOC) to plan and deliver the 2026 Small Malaita Mini Games.
