Minister for public service Stanley Sofu along with his permanent secretary attended the 2014 UN Public Service Forum in Seoul, South Korea last week.
The forum gives an opportunity for public service ministers from Europe, Latin America, Africa, Asia, Caribbean and the pacific with their official and international experts and practitioners to discuss and exchange innovative ideas on service delivery as a vehicle to achieve the MDGs and to develop the country.
It was affirmed throughout the forum of the critical need for visionary and committed leadership, citizen engagement, the capacity of the whole of government amongst others.
The experience of South Korea in ICT to drive development and deliver services to people is also highted in the Forum.
The UN Forum was opened by the former Prime Minister of Malaysia, Dr. Mahathir Bin Mohamad who outlined how Malaysia was able to develop after Independence from being a developing country to a one with a strong economy.
The forum was closed on Thursday by Undersecretary General of the United Nations, Mr. Wu Hongbo.
