The stage is set for the highly anticipated 2025 Solomon Cup grand final, taking place on Friday at the National Stadium in Honiara, as Malaita Eagles go head-to-head with Makira Ulawa Kakamora.
The decision was made following a meeting held on Thursday between the Local Organizing Committee (LOC), the National Sports Council (NSC), and the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF).
Originally scheduled for Lawson Tama Stadium, the venue change was officially confirmed by the Solomon Islands Football Federation (SIFF) Media on Thursday, July 24.
The announcement has been welcomed by football fans nationwide, with the last major football event at the National Stadium being the OFC Champions League final in April 2025.
Match times remain unchanged with the third and fourth playoff between Guadalcanal Hornets and Western Tomoko kicking off at 11am followed by the main grand final match starting at 2pm.
The LOC also noted that only 1,000 $20 tickets are available for children under the age of 12.
Meanwhile, the grand-final is marked by another exciting announcement with Papua New Guinea’s top referee David Yereboinen set to take charge of the match.
