Following weeks of intense training in Honiara members of the Solomon Islands first professional team – Solomon Kings Football Club (FC) jets out of the country on Sunday for a two week training in Brisbane, Australia.
In a statement Solomon Kings FC said; “The adventure begins first stop Brisbane for 2 weeks training at Wolves FC before we head to Auckland for our first game in the OFC Pro League.”
Its not clear whether a number of friendly matches will be organised for the team.
Early this month Head coach Ben Cahn said, the team has vbeen working tirelessly in preparation for the inaugural OFC Pro League season.
Despite a late start to pre-season preparations the coaching staff will try their best to get the team ready before kick-off.
The former Brisbane Roar FC head coach praised his players, noting their commitment and potential after undergoing few sessions with them.
“The level’s been amazing. We’ve done three to four sessions so far and they’re great players. They give everything and they want to learn. I think the intensity has been a big step up for them now,” he added.

The training squad include 20 local players and three overseas players.
Cahn has outlined the club’s short and long term goals, stating that the initial focus will be on establishing a competitive team in the OFC Pro League while laying sustainable standards.
He also assured the people of the Solomon Islands that he understands how seriously they take football here.
“I will do everything in my power to accelerate football in this nation and take us further forward,” he said.
The boys prior to their departure on Sunday are confident to prepare well ahead of the league’s first circuit, which kicks off on January 17 in Auckland.
The team is up against PNG Hekari United FC in their opening clash on Saturday January 17.
Meanwhile, Hekari is also stepping up its preparation for their first match against the Kings.
