Despite the defeat, Kings FC is determined to bounce back in its next match
Solomon Kings Football Club (FC) assures its die-hard fans and supporters that it would step up preparation for its second and final match of the OFC Pro League Round 4.
The team was defeated 1–0 by Auckland FC at the National Stadium on Saturday.
The victory was dubbed a revenge win by Auckland after being defeated by Kings in Port Moresby, Papua Guinea (PNG) during round two of the league.
The score was 0–0 at halftime, despite Kings FC dominating much of the game and creating several chances.
Auckland FC scored the winning goal in the last three minutes of the match.
In a statement after the match, Solomon Kings FC said; “it was not out our night, we will regroup and get ready for our next game.”
Kings had a golden opportunity to level the score in the dying minutes of extra time when they were awarded a penalty.
Kings was closed to level the score-line. However, the penalty was missed by Sota Hingashide after Auckland FC goalkeeper calculated-well Higashide’s shot.
Players and fans were disappointed with that missed opportunity.
Despite the outcome, the club told Hingashide, Solomon Islands is proud of his contribution.

“Hold your head up high the nation is behind you and we’re all very proud of everything you have done for the team.”
Despite the loss, Solomon Kings Coach, Ben Cahn praised his players for the quality football they displayed throughout the match.
“They’re a very good team, also very direct, strong on set pieces and tonight they did enough to get the three points,” he said.
He said, its a shame they don’t get the equalizer in the end.
Kings will have few days of rest before taking on South Melbourne on Thursday night.
The focus for the team now shifts to improving and preparing for the next challenge.
He said the team will work on a few areas that need improvement as they prepare for their final match of the fourth round.
Despite the result many football fans have expressed their strong support for the team and the coaching staff.
