Parliamentary Opposition Group’s has been acknowledged for their visit to Noro, Western province.
General Manager of Soltuna Mr Adrian Wickham praised the Group led by the Opposition Leader Hon Matthew Wale during their visit to Soltuna on Friday 4th April 2025.
Mr Wickham when welcoming the Group has spoken highly of the imitative by the Opposition to visit companies like Soltuna.
“In a good democracy we must have a good Opposition Group and I must acknowledge your commitment to visit us and to take interest in the company’s future plans and challenges,” he said.
Mr Wickham then briefed the Group on the company’s expansion plan and also shared challenges and successes of the company.
“One of the challenges is having to adapt to new policies whenever a new government comes in,” he highlighted.
The Opposition Group was also taken on a tour around the site meeting local workers and to see how Soltuna products are processed.
Local workers on site have expressed gratitude to meet and greet with their country’s leaders.
In response, Hon Wale has acknowledged Soltuna for accommodating his team.
He said the initiative taken by the Opposition is the first of its kind and this would help the Group to get first hand information on the ground.
By doing this, the Opposition Leader said it would also help to influence government policy.
“This is an initiative taken to also listen to the challenges faced by major companies such as Soltuna. Having exhausted all channels, the Opposition could help in raising issues of interest to the National Government,” Hon Wale said.
The Opposition Leader also commended local workers at Soltuna 60% of which are females.
Other Opposition MPs that accompanied the Opposition Leader includes; MP for West New Georgia/Vona Vona Constituency Hon George Temahua, MP for South New Georgia Rendova & Tetepare Hon David Gina, MP for North Malaita Hon Daniel Waneoroa, MP for Small Malaita Hon Rick Hou and MP for West Makira Hon Derick Manuari.
