The South Choiseul Constituency (SCC) Office has acknowledged the People’s Republic of China (PRC) for its financial assistance of SBD $50,000.00 towards the seaweed farmers in that region following damages to their farms.
Member of Parliament (MP) for South Choiseul Constituency Tozen Leokana in a statement said; “on behalf of the affected seaweed farmers of Wagina and Selekana and the wider constituency extended its deepest appreciation to the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China (PRC) in the Solomon Islands for its prompt and generous support to the seaweed farming community in Wagina and Selekana, following the recent devastation caused by tsunami-like conditions and strong ocean currents.”
The MP said, the financial assistance of SBD $50,000.00 provided by the Chinese Embassy will deliver immediate relief to affected seaweed farmers whose livelihoods were severely impacted by the natural disaster.
“This timely support will go a long way in helping these hardworking families
recover and rebuild their vital source of income.
“Such generosity reflects the deepening ties between our two nations and demonstrates the Embassy’s continued commitment to supporting vulnerable communities in times of hardship.
“It is a clear example of practical cooperation and friendship in action.
“The South Choiseul Constituency is truly grateful for this meaningful assistance and looks forward to ongoing collaboration with the People’s Republic of China in areas of mutual interest and community development.
“Once again, we thank the Chinese Embassy for standing with our people in a time of need,” the MP said.
