The Southeast Vella Constituency Office has acknowledged the support of the Australian Government following the delivery of a police vehicle and sea transport equipment to support policing services in South Vella, Western Province.
Constituency Development Officer (CDO) George Alu told Solomon Star in an interview that the assistance was provided through the Australian Government under its development support programs.
Mr. Alu said the support was made possible through the office of the Member of Parliament for Southeast Vella, Hon. Fredrick Kologheto, in partnership with the Australian High Commission.
The assistance includes a police vehicle, an outboard motor (OBM), and a boat, which will be used to support operations at Parakasi Police Station located at the Vella Development Centre near Vonunu in South Vella.

He said the new transport assets will greatly assist police officers at Parakasi Police Station in carrying out their duties, especially in responding to incidents and travelling between communities across the islands.
Mr. Alu added that the assistance was facilitated through the MP for Southeast Vella in collaboration with the Australian Government through the High Commission in Honiara.
He further revealed that additional materials for constituents under the Constituency Development Funding (CDF) through Ministry of Rural Development (MRD) are expected to be delivered to the Parakasi Vella Development Centre sometime next week.
The official handover date for the materials, which include boats, outboard motors, roofing materials, solar equipment and other supplies, will be confirmed at a later date.
Meanwhile, MV Fair King is currently in Gizo transporting the materials and is awaiting improved weather conditions before proceeding to Parakasi for the delivery.
