The South Seas Evangelical Church (SSEC) women’s fellowship from the central church in Honiara celebrated their 50 years of golden jubilee over the weekend.
The women’s fellowship coordinator Ms Rachel Hou said, the event was an important one for the women to remember the key founders (women) who began the ministry in the Church way back in 1964.
The theme for this celebration was: ‘Celebrating 50 years of God’s Grace and Faithfulness Yesterday, Today and Forever.’
The coordinator said the celebration was of significant importance to the women’s fellowship to remember those who have started the movement.
“Women this is our important day to celebrate and remember our core founders of this ministry here in Church. I know hundreds of people came to know the Lord through this ministry. It’s the testimony of the women’s fellowship that love and compassion is what women should have while living in God’s love,” the coordinator Ms Hou stated.
She also explained that, all SSEC women’s fellowship (Band) throughout the nation has their own date to mark the day when they began the women’s ministry in their churches.
Guest speaker Rev. Bishop Mathias Lima addressed the women with God’s word by saying; “It is better for women to treasure the word of God, not for them only but for you men as well. Fellowship with Jesus should be our priority.”
The celebration started on Saturday evening with formal meal followed by night activities. The program ended on Sunday afternoon with light refreshment and cutting of the 50 years golden jubilee cake.
