Hundreds of people within North West Guadalcanal turned up to witness the ordination of Wilson Basile in Maravovo on Sunday.
He was ordained the church priest for St Batholomew Anglican Church of Melanesia.
Guadalcanal Anglican Church of Melanesia (ACOM) diocese bishop Nathan Tome officiated in the ordination.
During the ordination mass, Bishop Nathan Tome reminded Fr Basile that he is now a shepherd of God’s flock.
“You are responsible to feed God’s people with God’s word daily,” Bishop Tome said.
“You must show Christ’s light to the people you are call to serve.
“Put your trust and faith in the Lord in spite of challenges you may face and go along in your pastoral work,” he added.
In accepting his new role, Fr Basile said, he knows God is calling him to do His work.
“So I must be faithful in doing it,” Fr Basile said.
“I have not ended my education successfully but through God’s help he will lead me to fulfil his plan and purpose for my life,” he added.
Fr Basile was the acting head brother of Tabalia and also become a deacon for Batholomew local church for one year.
“Now I have been assigned to work in the ministry that God plans for me to fulfil,” he said.
The village Chief of Maravovo John Rave called on all the people of the community to support and work together with the newly ordained priest in his ministry of priesthood.
