St. Peter Kindergarten of Gizo Catholic Don Bosco in Western Province hosted its Pre-Primary Year 3 (PPY3) Graduation Ceremony on Tuesday, 2nd December marking a joyful milestone for the young learners as they prepare to enter primary school.
The event also signified the closing of the St. Peter Don Bosco Kindergarten School.
Early Childhood Education (ECE) Supervisor, Teacher Fatima Baisi, delivered an inspiring address acknowledging the achievements of the children and the support of parents and teachers throughout the year.
“Our hearts are full as we look at how much our children have grown,” she said. “Some came in scared, shy, or crying, and some could not even hold a pencil.
“Today they are confident young learners who can write, read sounds, count, sing, play together, and express themselves with joy.”

Fatima explained that the kindergarten enrolls children from age three because early childhood forms the foundation for lifelong learning.
“At age three, a child’s mind is like a sponge, ready to absorb language, routines, values, and basic skills,” she said, adding that these years build confidence, social skills, and academic readiness.
She reminded parents that their involvement remains vital. “Every time you bring them to school, check homework, talk, read, and encourage them — you are shaping their future,” she said, warning that children without home support may fall behind or lose confidence.

Fatima urged parents to continue working with teachers. “When home and school work together, our children become unstoppable,” she added. She also thanked the teaching staff for their patience, sacrifice, and dedication.
Gizo Catholic Diocese Bishop Peter Houhou emphasized the importance of educating children from an early age and acknowledged parents for their commitment to their children’s welfare.
The ceremony ended with words of gratitude and the presentation of gifts by guests and Father Christmas (Santa) to the pupils and graduands.
