ST Peter Rural Training Centre (RTC) in Gizo, Western Province, opened its doors to high school students, educators, and the public on Thursday 18th September during its annual open day program at the St Peter Catholic Campus.
The event was designed to showcase the outstanding achievements of students and to recognize their hard work and dedication throughout the year.
Proceedings began with a short devotion before continuing with presentations from staff and students, including displays and the selling of goods produced by different classes.
The open day also featured an interactive session with faculty members from schools around Gizo, giving prospective students a glimpse into RTC programs while exploring the facilities, infrastructure, and services available on campus.
Speaking at the occasion, Principal of St Peter RTC, Sister Regina Varghese, acknowledged the presence of the Bishop of Gizo Catholic Diocese and thanked the public for their participation.
She also paid tribute to the teachers, staff, and hardworking students, saying their contribution is crucial in improving learning and building a strong future workforce.
Sister Regina explained that St Peter RTC, commonly known as Don Bosco School, is a technical institution offering four trade courses to young people who are interested in acquiring skills and knowledge to qualify as competent workers.
“The school wants students to become inquisitive and passionate learners so that they can develop their skills and achieve their goals and dreams,” she said.
The event concluded with refreshments and entertainment performed by St Peter RTC students.
