Construction work on the China-aided Auki Road Project in Malaita Province has been progressing steadily since its commencement on 10 April 2025.
According to a recent update shared on the China-Aid Auki Road Project Facebook page, all main roads within the Auki town area have now been fully repaired. The upgrades have significantly improved driving conditions, enhancing both road safety and convenience for local residents.
The project, implemented by the China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation (CCECC), has now entered its next phase, which focuses on the repair of feeder roads.
Despite ongoing construction activity, traffic continues to flow smoothly throughout the area.
“The construction team is actively carrying out repairs on feeder roads while ensuring minimal disruption to traffic,” the update stated.

In addition to roadworks, the project also includes the construction of drainage systems and concrete structures—critical elements that will help ensure the long-term durability and quality of the upgraded infrastructure.
The update emphasized the project’s commitment to maintaining high standards of quality, safety, and efficiency, with the goal of achieving early completion to further strengthen the region’s transportation network.
To support the next stages of development, four shipments of essential construction equipment and materials have recently arrived. These include key machinery such as motor graders, heavy-duty road rollers, loaders, and dump trucks, as well as a large volume of construction materials.
“The timely arrival of these supplies will provide strong support for accelerating project progress,” the statement added.
Despite the ongoing holiday season, all workers have maintained high morale and remain committed to the successful completion of the project.
