The Solomon Islands Women’s 3×3 Basketball team has made a flying start to their Pacific Mini Games campaign, recording back-to-back victories as Conference Two action tipped off on Tuesday, July 1
In their opening match, the women overcame a slow start to secure a 15-10 win over a determined Northern Marianas side.
Regaining their rhythm late in the game, the Solomon Islands team pulled away to seal a confident victory.
They backed up that performance with another impressive showing, edging out the Federated States of Micronesia (FSM) 19-16 in a tightly contested second-round encounter.
On the men’s side, it was a tough start to the tournament as Solomon Islands fell just short in both of their opening matches.
The team narrowly lost 19-18 to Tahiti in a thrilling opener, before suffering a 15-13 defeat at the hands of Tonga.
The competition continues Wednesday, July 2, with the Solomon Islands women set for another double-header—facing Northern Marianas once again before a crucial clash against tournament favorites Samoa.
