Release our second semester allowance soon
The Solomon Islands students studying in Papua New Guinea’s Institutions have renewed calls for an immediate release of their allowances for the second semester.
One of the student associations at Divine Word University in Madang said “it is now four weeks of schooling but we still not receive our allowances for this second semester.
“It is important we received our allowances on time so that we meet our important needs and as well as stationaries for us to use during our schooling throughout this semester.
“Our colleagues at UNITEC, UNPNG, Goroka and Vundal in Rabaul are still to receive their allowances too.”
Its understood allowances for Solomon Island students studying in Papua New Guinea’s institutions have been allocated but still being processed and will be sent to Solomon Islands High Commission office in Port Moresby.
The country’s high commission office in Port Moresby is still working closely with the National Training Unit (NTU) on students’ allowances.
The association said “We call on the Solomon Islands Government to responsibly and quickly facilitate our allowance sooner the better for us to meet our important needs to use in school,” the students said.
Meanwhile the students applauded the Government for making the first semester allowance available to them.
The students understand that they should receive their allowances at the beginning of second semester not exceeding the semester as it happens then.
