THE matter Daniel Suidani and Celsius Talifilu will return to court on June 27, for the final interim mention before the trial.
Suidina is the current Malaita Provincial Assembly Member for West Baegu-Fataleka Ward and a former Premier and Talifilu was his former advisor.
The trial is scheduled to take place from June 30 to July 11 this year.
After the recent court hearing, no issues were raised from the prosecution, while the defence was not present in court yesterday.
Suidani and Talifilu are charged in connection with unlawful assemblies and a protest that took place in Auki, the Malaita Provincial Capital in 2021.
At that time, Suidani was Premier of Malaita Province, and Mr Talifilu was his political advisor.
The protest was allegedly organised by the Malaita for Democracy (M4D) movement in response to the former Democratic Coalition Government for Advancement (DCGA) decision to sever diplomatic ties with Taiwan in favour of Beijing.
The two accused are represented by Justlaw Attorneys, while Special Prosecutor Mary-Anne Zurenuoc from the Office of the Director of the Public Prosecutions (ODPP) appears for the Crown.
The two defendants are excused from attending Monday’s interim mention.
