MORE than 300 children participated in the two day Sunday school rally for Holy Cross Catholic Parish over the weekend.
Catholic Media officer Camillus Kole said Catholic Archbishop His Grace Chris Cardone closed the rally on Saturday.
Archbishop Cardone reminded the gathering that children are gifts from God and it is important to involve them in such activities.
“We gather here because we love our children.
“It is great to see a huge number of young children from different Catholic churches and communities within our Holy Cross Parish come and celebrate together.
“Our children are gifts from God and it is good that we give them a special occasion for them to share and enjoy,” Archbishop Cardone said.
The rally gave the children the opportunity to listen to inspirational talks from the priests and religious Sisters based the theme “Care, Protection and Evangelization of Our Children”.
Some of the speakers include Holy Cross assistant parish priest Fr John Varea, Don Bosco Technical Institute Rector Fr Srimal Silva and Daughter of Mary Immaculate Sister Rose Kisi.
The children also played sports, engaged in Bible quizzes and fellowship programmes.
Mr Kole said other Catholic parishes also organized Sunday School Rallies for their children.
He said a similar programme is now being planned for 2018 for Holy Cross Parish Sunday School children.
