Honiara Table Tennis Association (HTTA) has successfully staged its championship 2025 on Saturday over the weekend at the Multipurpose Hall in Honiara.
The event brought together young table tennis enthusiasts from across schools and communities around Honiara.
The two days championship kicked off on Thursday last week and concluded on Saturday.
This year’s competition featured four (4) different categories, they are junior, senior, senior opens and Para category.
The 4 different categories also includes both boys and girls categories.
The two days championship not only bring together kids from schools and communities around Honiara but showcased pure talents and passion for the sport
The participants of the championship are kids from schools and communities who have been engaged in the table tennis program called the Smash Down Barriers (SDB) which was rolled out by the HTTA.
HTTA President Kevin Olea expressed his delight at the tournament’s success, highlighting the support from the SDB and family memebers who theuir kids are part of the program.
Speaking on the overal performance, Olea said, all of the participants are showing lots of improvement in the court and stated that this is the platform where we can able to develop these kids for the future.
“HTTA will continue to working with these kids and develop them for the future,” Olea said.
“The championship serves as a stepping stone for the young athletes to hone their skills and compete at a higher level. With the support from SDB and its partners, the future of table tennis tennis in Solomon Islands looks bright,” President Olea concluded.
