The Member of the Provincial Assembly for Ward 10, Iriqila in North Vella has called on to school teachers that were still absent from their schools since the beginning of the 2023 Academic classes.
Speaking to this paper in an interview yesterday, MPA Freedom Tozaka says “as the MPA for Ward 10, North Vella, I wish to raise our parents concern regarding teachers’ absenteeism since academic year begins 23rd January 2023.
Tozaka said most of our schools in Ward 10 under United church Education Authority.
“Teachers have been paid through SIG (Solomon Island Government) whilst parents and guardians searching for school fees ending up to honourable members for assistance.
“Teachers absent is a chronic matter that millions of dollars from tax payers just lose because of continuous teachers’ absenteeism,” he said.
“I am calling on the Ministry of Education and Human Resource Development and United church Education Authority to deal with teachers’ absenteeism.
“Disciplinary action should be taken against such teachers as we are in week 4 and our schools are not yet started, he added.
