The Malaita Deputy Premier Randol Sifoni has urged soccer teams participating in the Ward 28 Waneagu Sulanasina 2020 Mini-Games soccer tournament to maintain the good spirit of sportsmanship.
Speaking as the guest of honor during the official opening of the mini-games at Bina community in West Kwaio, Sifoni told teams to display their soccer skills and maintain the spirit of sportsmanship.
“To my good young people as we compete in this tournament throughout this week be encouraged to always maintain the good spirit of sportsmanship.
“Show forth the talents that are vested within you, display your skills and competency,” he added.
He also urges them to maintain the message of Christmas which is to bring peace and hope as everyone celebrates the birth of our redeemer.
“As you compete throughout this tournament remember to play in a disciplined manner.
“Even if your team wins do celebrate in good faith as brothers and sisters.
“Some of you, your teams will not be successful in this tournament, but always remember to accept defeat or lose in an appropriate and meaningful manner which will see that we matured in our faith and character,” he said.
The deputy premier also urged supporters to come and support their respective teams in the course of the tournament.
“To my good people, as we come to support our teams please bear in mind to support with a good heart.
“Do support and cheer your teams with the spirit of sportsmanship and to avoid provoking your fellowmen through your support that will bring grief and hatred.”
With that, Mr.Sifoni thanked the MPA for Ward 28 Mr. Colodio Tei’ifi for supporting the historical mini-games for youth in his ward.
