TEMOTU Province is still without a police commander following the passing of Fred Saeni last month.
The late Saeni, who died after a short illness, has been the province’s police chief until his passing.
A senior sergeant at Lata Police Station, Reginald Kava, said since Mr Saeni’s passing, their headquarters in Honiara is yet to make a replacement.
“I’m currently acting, and waiting for a new appointment to be made,” Mr Kava said.
“We hope this won’t take longer,” he added.
Mr Kava thanked the Temotu public for working closely and showing respect to the police in the province since the passing of their commander.
He said people there are very supportive and cooperate well with the police.
“Cooperation is the only way forward for any society to become healthier,” he said.
“We must ensure that peace and harmony remain intact in our society so that everyone lives in unity,” he added.
