Dear Editor – Thank you for allowing me space to publish my view in your leading newspaper in the country.
My view will focus mainly on chronic concern from frequent travelling passengers regarding the performance of the Solomon Airline Officer in Lata.
Concerned travelling passengers have alleged that this Officer has entertained bribery with travelling passengers.
However, time and time again, passengers have raised and confronting her to refrain from such actions but fall on deaf ears.
“We are calling on Solomon Airline head office must terminate or replace the current officer with a new staff, who can deliver services that is transparent, fair and corrupt free.”
Passengers continue to express their disappointment that when their flights are confirmed, but when they arrived at the airport for check prior to boarding, only to realize their names appeared on the waiting list and those who personally push for space were confirmed.
It was alleged that the Officer normally asks for cash from some passengers to allow to confirm their flight.
It was claimed that this Officer, sometimes prioritized passengers from her village and put those have confirmed first back to the waiting list.
One disgruntled passenger had expressed that early this year, he argued with this Officer at Santa Cruz Airport during check in time, questioning why his name appear in the waiting list and others who came later were confirmed their flight in the eleventh hour.
He said, such situation to replace names of confirmed passengers to waiting list is becoming a dirty normal practice from Santa Cruz Airline Office in Lata.
This issue has sparked deep concern from frequent travelling passengers calling on Airline Head Office in Honiara to address the plight of Temotuans sooner the better.
