Delay in resolving the political impasse left nation in confusion
Settle the current ‘political crisis’ that’s the appeal by the Tadai House of Chiefs in light of the currently political impasse currently hovering Solomon Islands.
In a statement, the Tadai house of Chiefs has called on the 50 members of parliament to immediately solve the issue.
This statement came after Prime Minister (PM) Jeremiah Manele is running a minority government.
PM Manele is refusing to budge as the new coalition calls for him to resign ahead of a motion of no-confidence set to mature for debate in parliament on Monday next week, March 23.
On behalf of Tadai house of Chiefs, General Secretary Chief Daniel Donua said:
“On behalf of the Paramount Chief of Tandai and the people of Tadai I would like to call upon all our national leaders to quickly resolve this situation.”
He said, the people of this country needs political stability.
“We are at a political crisis and the people of the Solomon Islands needs stability.
“The Tadai people are frontliners and when Honiara is affected or the nation, we are the first to be impacted.
“We do not want to be at a state of confusion, assumptions and doubts.
“I ask you all 50 MPs and leaders of the nation that we elected you there to take up your leadership roles and do the right thing for your constituents and the nation as a whole.
“Your leadership comes with responsibility and we ask you to make the right decision that serves the interest of the nation to protect our people, resources and the future of this nation. You must also protect the dreams and aspirations of your people.”
PM Manele is ruling with 22 MPs in his GNUT coalition. Two of them are in serious medical conditions, leaving only 19 abled-MPs to help PM Manele run government.
In the past week PM Manele has sworn in six new ministers to fill the gap in Cabinet left after 12 ministers resigned.
Prime Minister Manele is expected to speak to the local media this Sunday during a press conference.
