The Solomon Cup defending champions Malaita Eagles has secured their third win after beating Guadalcanal Hornets 1-0 on Friday as they continued with their title defense in the Solomon Cup 2025.
Eagles victory over Hornets yesterday marks their third win in 3 matches played in the competition.
The win give them valuable 3 points to further extend their lead with 9 points at the top of group A standing table.
The match on Friday was indeed a tough one as both teams eyeing the much coveted 3 points but Eagles is the better side after clinching the points from Hornets.
Both teams have equal ball possessions and scoring opportunities with Malaita Eagles only makeuse of one of its chances to secures their third win respectively.
Guadalcanal Hornets on the other hard, their misused scoring opportunities has cost them at the end.
Malaita Eagles head coach Terry Oiaka after the match he said, he is happy with the victory as it an important win for them in order to qualify for the next stage.
“Our win today is an important win for us in order to qualify for the next stage and as you can see today’s game is not an easy one but my boys maintains strong defense and focus on our game plan”, coach Oiaka said.
“We will go back regrouped and focus on our next match against Renbel Ibis this Sunday and work more on few areas identified to improve on”, Oiaka added.
Coach Oiaka further thanked the huge crowd that turn up and cheer for the team during the match.
Meanwhile the win gives the Oiaka led side another valuable 3 points to extend their lead at the top of group A standing table with 9 points following their 3 wins in 3 matches played so far.
