Tickets for the 2025 FIBA Melanesian Cup have been set at $20 SBD per seat as the Solomon Islands prepares to host the prestigious tournament for the first time next week.
The basketball showdown will run from Monday October 13 to Saturday 18 October at the Friendship Hall, East Honiara.
Competition chairlady Gloria Hong said, the price aims to make the event affordable for local fans while encouraging early ticket purchases due to the venue’s limited capacity of 1,500 seats
“The printing of tickets is now underway, and we will soon release information on where to purchase them. Each ticket will be $20 SBD, and we want to ensure everyone has a chance to come and enjoy the games,” Hong said.
With a capacity of just 1,500 seats, Hong urged the public to secure tickets early.
“We are aiming to sell about 1,300 seats per day for the six-day competition across two grandstands, each holding roughly 750 seats.
Around 200 seats will be reserved for VIPs, teams, and officials,” she explained.
“The venue can only accommodate 1,500 spectators at a time, so it’s very important to get your ticket early once they are available,” she added.
Preparations for the tournament are progressing smoothly, with 30 new volunteers set to assist throughout the event.
“We are grateful to these volunteers who will help ensure the competition runs smoothly,” Hong said.
Teams and officials are expected to start arriving in the coming weeks. Men’s and women’s teams from five countries will compete, with the top two finishers in each category earning a spot in the 2027 Pacific Games in Tahiti.
