Japanese ambassador Shigeru Toyama says he was pleased to sign grant contracts with two schools who will receive funding support from his government.
He expressed this when signing contracts with reps of Valapata Pimary School in Western Province and the St Josephs Moli in the Choiseul.
Valapata Primary School was allocated $690,000 while St Josephs will get $700,000 for their classrooms.
These funding were secured under Japan’s Grassroots and Human Security Scheme.
Toyama said education is key to development and progress this is why Japan is prioritizing this sector.
“We believe these two projects will benefit many students in and around Valapata and Moli communities and will have positive impacts on the development of human resources of Solomon Islands,” the ambassador said.
He encouraged the two schools to implement their projects well so that they benefit their respective communities.
Toyama added these two projects are good examples of the cooperation between the governments and people of Solomon Islands and Japan.
