Three vehicles were involved in an accident on Saturday morning opposite the National Referral Hospital (NRH) in Honiara after being hit by a Land Cruiser owned by a logging company.
According to eyewitnesses, the Land Cruiser was heading down toward the Point Cruz area when it collided with a Toyota RAV4 and a Toyota Caldina just at the road junction coming out from the Lawson Tama Stadium opposite the NRH.
Police who arrived at the scene suspected that the driver of the Land Cruiser may have been under the influence of alcohol at the time of the incident.
No injuries were reported, but both vehicles have sustained significant damage to the front section of the vehicles.
Police have launched an investigation into the cause of the accident.
The accident had resulted in traffic congestion for heading in both opposite directions.
