A PROMINENT leader of Isabel Province tragically lost his life on 28 December while attempting to cross a flooded river.
Danstan Woele was the provincial member for Kolotubi ward in the Isabel Provincial Assembly.
Reports the Solomon Star received said the late Woele and his friends were attempting to cross the Kolomola River when he lost his balance and fell and was carried away by the flood waters.
His friends were able to make it to the other side.
A search conducted was able to locate the body on the river’s banks on Wednesday afternoon.
Buala police, together with family members, relatives and villagers were involved in the search.
The Late Woele was said to be an outstanding provincial politician, who will be sorely missed.
