The tsunami warning station in Lata Wharf, Temotu Province, is operational again.
This came after recent repairs done in collaboration with Solomon Islands Meteorological Service and Australia’s Solomon Islands Infrastructure Program.
The Solomon Islands’ tsunami monitoring network includes three key stations:
- Lata Wharf – Temotu Province
- Tarekukure Wharf – Choiseul Province
- Honiara, which also serves as a climate monitoring station
These stations work together to provide real-time data that helps authorities confirm tsunami alerts and understand potential impacts across affected regions—crucial information that supports early warnings and saves lives.
